British researchers have worked out an equation to measure your sense
of well-being. It looks like this:
Happiness=P + 5E + 3H
Contentment, they say, depends on three components: personal characteristics (outlook on life, adaptability, and resilience), plus five times your existence needs (health, money, and relationships), plus three times your higher-order needs (self-esteem, expectations, and sense of
humor).
OK, but do you really need a calculator to figure out that getting a big fat promotion or salary raise would lift your spirits?
